GETTING READY FOR YOUR CONTRACTOR:

1.  Decide what you really want in advance by writing it down, cutting pictures out of magazines and note any questions.
 
2.  Create a budget, since this will really determine what you can accomplish. Educate yourself about current remodeling costs and the value of home improvements. Check out Remodeling Magazine’s annual “Cost vs. Value Report”.
 
3.  Consider how your project will be financed. Will you use savings or will you make inquiries into bank financing.
 
4.  Get professional design advice or seek a contractor who offers a design/build service.
